DissectCommunication is a project based on the following question: "How can I create an experience that explores the possibilities of interaction between human and AI from the perspective of a child learning to communicate?". The importance of the perspective of a child learning to communicate is that this forces you to think beyond the known communication ways. We use a verbal language with a minimal amount of gestures and body language. Animals for example use body language in a more dominant way in there communication. For the communication between human and AI I explored a communication based purely on visual language. I made a set of abstract animations that sort of hint toward interactions. As a user you can use the midi controller to either choose your message, set the speed or change the intensity. The end result isn't a working communication system because of the limited amount of animations and the minimal feedback. It does raise the question that we don't necessarily need AI to look like humans or communicate the way we do, so how should they communicate? In my opinion this is something completely new and we can shape and design it any way we like, so we should! After seeing this proposal for communication between human and AI what would be a comfortable way of communicating with AI for you?
